2016 - 2017 Event Schedule

 

October 7-9, 2016 - Secession Garrison at Fort Clinch:

This is an early war garrisoning of Fort Clinch in Fernandina, Florida. We will sleep in the fort, man the garrison, and conduct the daily business of an Army on Post. A fun time will be had by all.  Our own Lt Vaughn will conduct skirmish drill training.  This has been designated as a Florida Battalion of Infantry maximum effort event

 

November 11, 2016 - Veteran's Day Parade:

This a short, yet meaningful, way to show our support for Veteran's of all conflicts. We typically park at the Civic Center then walk to the staging area. The parade is less than 2 miles long and ends back in the Civic Center Parking lot. Let me know if you are attending and we will assign you to the Confederate or Union (we try to keep and even number).

 

December 2-4 2016 - 32nd Annual Ocklawaha River Raid- This will be the first time the Leon Rifles attend this event and everyone should make a special effort to come. This has been designated as a Florida Battalion of Infantry maximum effort event 500 acres, with undeveloped land around Florida Greenway. Numerous on site water taps. All usual amenities will continue to be provided (hay, firewood, etc.).  Water, firewood, and port-a-lets are provided on site as are modern showers for participants. Modern camping with hookups are available.  Reenactor Fee: $5 fee per reenactor, $20 maximum per family Contact: For more information, contact Lt. Col. From I-75 take the Belleview/Dunnellon exit (near the Don Garlits Museum); go 2 miles east on Highway 484 to the intersection of 484 and Highway 475. Turn left onto 475 and go 1.5 to 2 miles; the site entrance is on the left.

 

December 10th, 2016 - Leon Rifles Christmas Party:

The Leon Rifles Christmas Party is fun for all ages. The Company supplies the meats and everyone is asked to bring a side or dessert.

 

January 20-22, 2017 Brooksville Raid:  We will be Union on Saturday and Confederate on Sunday.  A $5.00 reenactor fee will be collected at the registration desk. Paid reenactors will receive a ticket for a chance at a  $50.00 gift certificate (ten will be given away) to be used at any sutlers in Sutlers Row during the event. Winners will be announced at the Blue/Gray Ball

January 28-29 2017   Raid on Euchee Anna Defuniak Spr, FL  The Walton Guards in conjunction with the Chautauqua Assembly in Defuniak Sprngs, Fl. Are once again holding the annual “Raid on Euchee Anna”. Depicting the events resulting from Union Gen. Asboth's raid into the heart of Northwest Florida en route to attack Marianna and the C.S. Military District headquartered there. The event will depict the small skirmish that occurred at Euchee Anna, the county seat of Walton Co. in 1864.  Jim Busby is the ringleader. He needs our support

 

February 17-19, 2017  Battle of Olustee:  We will be Union on Saturday and Confederate on Sunday  Registration is free.  http://battleofolustee.org/reenactment.html  This has been designated as a Florida Battalion of Infantry maximum effort event

 

March 3-5, 2017  Natural Bridge   The 152nd  anniversary and 40th reenactment of the Battle of Natural Bridge, FL  Information: Held on the original site of the battle at the Natural Bridge Battlefield Historic State Park.  Registration begins on Friday with battle reenactments on both Saturday and Sunday. NO REENACTOR FEES.  The Ladies Soldier's Friend Sewing Society will host civilian events including a Children's Tea and Ladies‘ Tea on Saturday. Military, medical, and living history demonstrations throughout the day including historic

presentations by volunteers (2nd USCT) from the John G. Riley Center/Museum of African American History and Culture. Civil War dance at 8:00 PMOn Sunday, the Anna Jackson Chapter 224 United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) will celebrate their annual pilgrimage to the site with a brief ceremony and the laying of a wreath honoring the original participants of the battle. Period merchants on site as well as food vending by the Tallahassee Elks Lodge. Artillery by invitation only. No cavalry. This has been designated as a Florida Battalion of Infantry maximum effort event

 

April 6-9, 2017 The 155th Anniversary Reenactment of The Battle of Shiloh,  Mike Wilcox will be bringing his Sibley tent. 

 

April 21 – 23, 2017  152nd Battle of Selma Re-enactment  http://battleofselma.com/  Going Federal this year and Jim Busby’s group will be there.

 

May 19-21, 2017 153rd Anniversary Battle of Resaca Reenactment  We will be Confederate all weekend.  We must pre-register.  The 152nd was one of the most beautiful reenactments ever.   This has been designated as a Florida Battalion of Infantry maximum effort event
